Interview : Mr. Thoms
Who are you? And where are you from ?
My name is Diego della Posta aka Mr. Thoms. I’m Italian and I live in Rome.
What are your main influences – art and otherwise ?
I do affect a little ‘ to everything that excites me, movies, cartoons, comics, I love the surrealist painters. But to find ideas and create new works usually read, or talk to people walking.
Street art has many facets to it. How would you describe your personal style ?
I like to describe my style as a collection of many styles that mutate and change shape depending on the idea that I need to accomplish. I believe that style should be always be at the service of the idea and never the opposite.
What’s in your toolbox ?
A good book, a sketchbook and a pencil.
What is the most dangerous situation you have faced in doing street art ?
When I was arrested in Holland maybe, they brought me in for doing a Tag with a marker on a bucket of trash. For luck then came my friends who made me get out of paying the bail.
Can you remember the first time I took a spray can, and what you have created ?
I remember it well : I had a spray of blue and drew the letter J with a crown above.
How has your work evolved over the years ?
I think it evolved like any other discipline artistic study perseverance and dedication.
Do you have any areas you prefer ?
I love to paint on surfaces worn old out anyway.
Are there any artists that you would like to collaborate with ?
Already collaborated with many artists that I admire and appreciate it I hope I can continue to have more and new opportunities to make new ones.
What’s next for you ?
Currently finishing the renovation of my new home.
Who are your heroes ?
Spider man , Sherlock Holms , Bilbo Baggins and Jack Sparrow.
What is the question that I have asked and I would like to respond ?
What do you eat for lunch today ? Today I cook a nice pasta with cream peas and sausage. Bon appetit to all !
